Migrate from Codility to Coderbyte

Import workflows, assessments, and customization from Codility.

Congratulations on making the switch from Codility to Coderbyte. To ensure that you have a seamless transition, please review the following information.

Terminology

There are a few key differences in the feature set and terms used to describe capabilities.

Tests: Both Coderbyte and Codility offer a screening capability with code challenges and automated grading. In Codility, this is called a "CodeCheck Test" while in Coderbyte it is called Assessment.

CodeLive: Both Codility and Coderbyte offer a capability for real-time collaborative coding. In Codility it is called "CodeLive" and in Coderbyte it is called an Interview

Tasks: Both Codility and Coderbyte offer a library of coding challenges. In Codility this is called "Tasks" while in Coderbyte they are called Challenges.

Customization

Beyond differences in terminology, there are also differences in how to best use Coderbyte.

Custom coding challenges: Codility encourages companies to create custom coding questions. While companies think this is an effective way to mitigate cheating and customize their assessment process, most of these questions will be flawed and biased. Creating legible and unbiased challenges is a very tedious process that requires expertise and years of iteration.

On Coderbyte, you can create custom challenges but they will go through an expert review (at no additional cost) that can take up to 48 hours. This is to ensure that your challenge can be solved and that candidates have a positive experience. Before we instituted the review, more than 50% of custom challenges suffered from problems that inhibited the candidate experience.

Coderbyte encourages you to use the proven challenges from our own library. We have developed ground-breaking technologies to make cheating difficult, if not impossible:
